Daintily raising herself from the tree, pearly, iridescent wings stretched out from behind her tiny body in a yawn like fashion. Narrowing her eyes at the sun, she pushed a lock of pure white hair behind her ears and gazed about the great, white tree with curiosity. “I wonder....” she whispered quietly in an almost a sing song fashion as her attention iwas diverted to a young village girl making her way down the path. Concentrating for a moment on the girl, a tinkling bell like laugh escaped Misty’s ruby lips as the young girl faltered trying to keep the vegetables in her basket from spilling out.
Nodding her head in delight when the girl quickly realized where she was and shied away from the tree, Misty gently lowered herself to the ground. Kicking the pots of offerings with her toes, she finally settled on one particular jar, nearly as large as she herself, full of jam, and flopped down on the grass next to it. Eating the offering until her belly was full, Misty leaned her head against the tree and rested her eyes for a moment. “Now....to figure out why the summons.”
Pulling herself away from the tree and unfolding her wings, Misty took to the air, unnoticed by the busily working mortals below. She delicately circled her domain, and not finding anything amiss amongst the villagers, she headed towards the barn and stopped directly above the blacksmith’s shop. She landed among the verdant blades of grass behind the small building. She fluttered her wings and folded them behind her then took a step... From behind the blacksmith’s shop came a beautiful woman, lithe and pale, her skin the color of a sparrow’s eggshell, her long hair white as snow. She wore a shimmering garment made by no human hand, and her eyes sparkled like December frost. A frown overcame her features, she then made her way over the barn and then finally to the house. Pausing a few moments to survey those inside of it, she shook her head and sighed “Well now, should have known he was gone and left them.”
Satisfied with her findings, Misty pushed against the ground with a small and graceful foot, and once again took flight, her form tiny and delicate as spun glass. She returned to the tree and dropped down lightly onto a limb. Folding her wings gently against her back, she leaned against the Brenhines Wen, feeling its pulsing life force, and closed her eyes. She knew they would need her soon enough otherwise, she would not have been woken.
